At Ngamuru, reconciliation is an ongoing commitment to building respectful relationships, increasing cultural understanding and strengthening the way we engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, organisations and communities.
As a national advisory firm, we recognise that reconciliation requires more than good intentions. It requires action, accountability and a willingness to listen, learn and continuously improve.
Cultural Immersion
Our staff visited the Belconnen Arts Centre for NAIDOC Week. Visiting the Belconnen Arts Centre was a powerful learning experience that deepened our appreciation for First Nations cultures and storytelling. The exhibitions showcased an extraordinary range of artworks, each infused with personal histories, ancestral connections, and themes central to NAIDOC Week—such as resistance, celebration, and cultural pride. Through visual art, sculpture, and installations, we encountered the rich diversity of First Nations communities and the ongoing legacy of creativity and resilience in the face of adversity.
These exhibitions also gave us a deeper understanding of NAIDOC Week itself—not just as a national event, but as a profound opportunity to listen, learn, and celebrate the voices of First Nations peoples. We learnt how art can be a powerful medium for advocacy and education, helping to preserve culture while inviting all Australians to engage with our shared history. The Belconnen Arts Centre’s commitment to platforming First Nations artists reminded us that reconciliation begins with recognition, respect, and a willingness to truly see and hear each other.
